What is a vein doctor?
A vein doctor or a vascular specialist has gone through specialized training and certification. They can diagnose and manage disorders that affect the arteries, veins and lymphatic systems. Vascular surgeons/vein doctors are also board certified in general surgery.
When should I visit a vein doctor?
Having abnormal looking veins are common. However, you should see a vein doctor when you are experiencing either embrassment and/or discomfort.

How are varicose veins diagnosed?
We first ask about your family history of varicose veins, the duration and presence of any symptoms, and any worsening or expansion of the varicose veins. We will also take note of your height, weight, and other medical conditions. In addition, general inspection and palpation (feeling the veins) and evaluation for the presence of any bleeding or ulceration also is typically performed.
